Last Saturday, 19th November 2011, the Creative Multimedia Department’s Photo Team organised a monthly outing under KakiPhoto. This month’s theme was ‘Ancient Architecture’ and the event was held at Kellie’s Castle, Batu Gajah. A total of 8 participants were involved in this event.

We left UTP at 9 am, had breakfast and reached Kellie’s Castle by 10 am. A briefing was conducted by the Exco 1 of CMD, Firdaus Fauzi, about photography to the participants, consisting mainly of amateur camera users. We toured around the old, ancient building trying to capture unique and captivating shots while having fun along the way. We learned a bit about HDR, composition and detailed shots. The outing ended right before noon.

MEDTECH Web Class

MEDTECH web class was conducted on 26 October 2011 to MEDTECH committee on how to create from scratch until the it finished by using WordPress and other website tool. This class objective is to give information and exposure to the committee about website and steps to make it looks attractive to the viewer according to user creativity. Every participant were given step-by-step website making tutored by Medtech own experienced committee which have a lot of knowledge on website.

All participant were anxious when learning to made it as this is the new knowledge for them. It is hoped that more web class will be conducted for other website builder such as Joomla! and others as every software have different type of function. for the next class, other committee are encourage to join as a lot of knowledge can be shared. The other upcoming class for the committee which are design class and video class are also encouraged to join. Therefore, gain all the knowledge that can be collected during the class.

MINGGU ALUAN SISWA SEPT’11

Minggu Aluan Siswa (MAS) or Orientation Week September 2011 intake has been successfully organized by Counselor Unit with Student Representative Council (SRC) as the director. It is a compulsory event for the new intake in order to give warm welcome and expose to the freshies the life in UTP. MAS took 7 days starting from 22nd Sept 2011 (Thursday) until 28th Sept 2011 (Wednesday) mainly in Chancellor Hall and Main Hall.

Media and Technology Club (MEDTECH) assist ITMS in handling the media and the technical part for the whole events. 37 committees of MEDTECH act as the media facilitators consist of two groups; crew and cmd. CMD group is divided into two teams; photo and video team. The job scopes of media facilitators consist of doing photo coverage starting from the Training of Trainers (TOT); 3 days before MAS started, prepare four montages (parents, smiley, facilitators and behind the scene), handling technical equipments in the hall and not to be forgotten, participate and do assist the facilitators.

For this MAS, MEDTECH takes Briefing for Self Reflection Night slot as the slot to introduce the technical equipments in the main hall and how the equipments should be handled to the new students. Whereas Self Reflection Night slot on the last night is the special slot designed to the new students to show their talents either on the stage or in front of the camera. All of the MEDTECH committees involved do learn new things and get the experiences from the MAS.

Medtech Family Day 2011

On the 3^rd of April 2011, UTP MEDTECH Club organized a trip for gathering of all its members named Medtech Family Day to Gua Tempurung. The main objective of this gathering is to bring together all Medtechians for an outing together to create strong bonds between them. To achieve the objective, caving was carried out as one of its activity. Caving was adventurous. Its dark and slippery route was quite a challenge for the participant. After 3 hours of caving, the organizers conducted station games to allow the participants to mingle around and know each other better. It was all smiles and fun for the family day participants. With an organized convoy equipped with walkie talkie, all 9 cars reached the university safely. Neither accidents nor injury was reported.

Media Tour 2011

Media and Technology Club (MEDTECH) of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS had organized Media Tour 2011 on the 9^th and 12^th March 2011. Media Tour 2011 basically is about providing exposure to UTP students specially, on how multimedia is applied in real-life situation (broadcasting, animation, publication and production). Apart from that, the tour also, the tour will help to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in multimedia. Furthermore, participants would be able to gain experience in handling cutting edge equipments which are not available in UTP.

As it has reached its 5^th year for 2011 session, we had expanded our capability to tour outside Malaysia which our plan for this year is Singapore. Media Tour 2011 organized a trip to various places such as High Commission of Malaysia, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Discovery Centre.

Throughout this trip, students will be exposed to new information on multimedia oriented field in the foreign country, and hopefully it will bring some inspiration to them to enrich their knowledge as well as their multimedia skill. By the end of this trip, we will have a link between UTP with High Commission of Malaysia, Sentosa Island, Singapore Discovery Centre, Nanyang Technological University and Esplanade Theater on the Bay. Thus in the future we can do collaboration activities, exchange ideas, knowledge and skills.

Medtech Event Management Seminar 2011 (EMS 2011)

Media and Technology Club (MEDTECH) of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS had organized Event Management Seminar on the 12^th and 13^st February 2011. The main purpose of this event is to guide the participants on how to run the events smoothly, systematically and professionally. As it has reached its 6^th year for 2011 session, we had expanded our capability as the students from other universities and schools were invited to participate as well. This seminar consists of modules in the form of talks and workshops where participants will be exposed about the basics of the event management skills. This seminar is crucial to ensure the participants are aware of the importance of having proper management skills and also communication skills in order to make an event or an organization a success.
